To comment on everything I saw and felt would take more space than this blog allows, so I will try to limit myself. I will get more specific (and interesting hopefully) as these blogs go on, but I will describe the one experience that opened my eyes the most.
The students were able to pair up and go on home visits with members of a physical therapy organization. We all worked at their facilities, but some of the people in most need are not able to make it there. On the home visits, I saw people with all kinds of physical ailments and I am ashamed to say I felt sorry for them at first. However, as we got to spend more time with them and get to know them more, I felt myself being more envious than anything else. I was judgemental and only saw things as they were only on the surface. As we visited more homes and people and spent more time in the country, I began to see what was underneath the surface, what was underneath the people's physical ailments. Hope.
I do not mean to sound overly sentimental, but the hope I caught a glimpse of within the people in Peru was something I hope to embrace within myself. Like I previously stated, I have an arsenal of stories about the trip and lessons I learned which I hope to share with the rest of you as time goes on. Feel free to come up to me around campus and ask any questions, but hopefully I will see many of you at some of the informational meetings.

Take Care,
Randy Ebright
